Most of the time, I’ll start working on the gaze in order to create a maximum of intensity to the face (4B and 8B pencils). This part requires time, the realism and emotions coming out of the drawing depending on it.

If you miss the expression in the look, you blow the drawing !

Drawing portraits outdoor have a great disadvantage. It hardens the look. Natural light doesn’t create the same effect on people’s features as the studio lights. In this case, the reflexion of the light has to be exaggerated by enlarging / blowing out the eyes.
